Merritt, Except for the Yankees, Dodgers and Braves who have a enough money to keep good players. But Charlie Finley had very shallow pockets for a baseball owner, and, truth be known, the A's weren't that big a draw even when they were winning 3 World Series in a row. The attitude seemed to be to wait for the playoffs and the series instead of attending the pre-season. <g> I know that I often went to games that only had 3-5000 fans in the stands. For the best team in baseball.
