Kal....volume analysis is stock specific, developed after testing a number of algorithms..... I have not looked at developing something for a higher level look (say sector)....As you have noted, the QP play may have some influence, but ot be honest, I have not seen a specific correlation to # of days ......during the down days it was interesting to see how the volume SEEMED to support the shorts....so as Rande notes there seems to be more of a balance now..... I believe that your comment re. IPO supply and demand is excellent and we should begin to analyze what might be next.... this AM I suggested Efinancial information MLTX, HOOV, TSCM, DBCC as looking interesting....previously I mentioned Etail and noted specifically VUSA.....We are watching E*brokers, but I can't see anything yet (although they seem to have bottomed)... When the # of IPOs increased dramatically, the volume studies weakened due to oversupply. As we move into a slower period of IPO, with more focused buying, the volume studies may become even more effective...
