JGoren- I think now that the problem is the new GSM chip by ADI that you mentioned. Could this new chip postpone the deployment of 3G because of its high data rates, and certainly keep Europe from converting to CDMA overlay. Anybody else agree or disagree? A friend told me this news story was in this morning's NYT. "Chipset is introduced that might cut cell-phone cost", C-7. The only good news is that this technology will also be available for CDMA eventually.

Oops - Just had my theory rejected on the other thread.
