Some thoughts on QCOM - A few days ago there was some discussion on this board about CYMI and I mentioned that the stock got killed in the past when the management abruptly left a conference before making a planned presentation. What happened to them is the worst case, and they were no Q, but it pays to watch the unfolding story carefully.

Quite a few people on the QCOM thread are buying this dip, but that seems overly risky before we know what is behind the stock's slide.

If Q is your major holding there is nothing wrong with protecting capital, but as has been pointed out here by Uncle Frank and others the GG is a long term philosophy, which is probably not enhanced by ticker watching.

At times like these it is important to remember that corrections in high-flying tech stocks are probably one of the few "guarantees" in the market.

The manual has this to say:

"The most holdable stock in high tech is the gorilla...[however]...it is important to note that even the most successful gorillas will eventually underperform investor expectations and take a hit in their stock price...This is to be expected. These moments of shortfall, however, far from being times to sell gorilla stocks, can be good times to buy more of it - if you believe the dynamics of the gorilla's advantage have not materially changed..."
