JDEC Senior Vice President Michael Schmitt to Address How Organizations Can Achieve

ROI and Speed Time to Market in the New Economy

DENVER, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Schmitt, senior vice president of J.D. Edwards & Co. (Nasdaq: JDEC) will present a session on conducting e-business beyond the year 2000 at five upcoming conferences, including the Credit Suisse First Boston Enterprise Software Tour; the J.D. Edwards Numetrix user conference; Supply Chain Expo, the Enterprise Solutions Showcase, and the Supply Chain Advantage event in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Schmitt's presentation entitled "Beyond Y2K: Business Will Never Be The Same," will unveil how the marketplace will change in the new millennium as a result of collaborative and changing business practices.

Schmitt will present the session at Credit Suisse First Boston Enterprise Software Tour taking place in San Francisco on September 15. The J.D. Edwards/Numetrix user conference is in Atlanta on September 21, the Supply Chain Expo in Baltimore on September 22, the Enterprise Solutions Showcase in Cincinnati on September 23, and the Supply Chain Advantage event in Sao Paulo on September 29.

At the conferences, Schmitt will address the following issues:

-- Barriers to requirements for successful e-business models include reach

and visibility, richness and personalization, and velocity and

collaboration.

-- Companies need to maintain flexibility in their business model in order

to respond to changing business practices, market conditions and

quickly capitalize on new revenue opportunities.

-- In order to remain competitive in the new millennium businesses must

collaborate effectively with suppliers, customers, and partners.

Synchronizing a company's IT system with trading partners will yield

the highest ROI.

-- In the Information Economy, an organization's competitive advantage

will rely on its ideas, and its ability to put those ideas into action.

With its agile, open, collaborative e-business solution, J.D. Edwards

is extending its Idea to Action value proposition throughout the

extended enterprise.

"Collaboration and the speed of the Internet is changing the face of business in the new millennium. In order to capitalize on new revenue opportunities in this Information Economy, companies must be prepared to react quickly to changing business models and market circumstances and create a collaborative network with trading communities," said Schmitt. "J.D. Edwards' ActivEra E-Business solution allows our customers and partners to be innovators, to rapidly implement their ideas, and to enable, manage and optimize all of their business relationships."
