Hi Gale,

Richard and Peter Filiberto are the best Gann users I know, they will be better suited to answer your question.

I will offer this...

When it comes to TA, I preach conservative yet I am a liberal. I personally do not get much mileage out of Gann boxes but I would never tell you not explore them. Many people do very well with just those boxes.

I really enjoy drawing lines and fib retracements and adding moving averages. I think I have a much better feel of the chart if I draw them myself opposed to dropping a box on the price action.

The next time you put up a box, put up 3 moving averages you like. Any 3 of varying lengths. You will notice that there will be a Gann line and a mov avg converging at very crucial areas. Another experiment would be for you to seek important up or downtrend lines and compare them to the subsequently drawn box.

The point of all that will be many. First no doubt you will start getting a greater feel for which tools you like to work with better. Another point is you will begin to see how redundant TA tools can be. You will also see that all the tools mentioned in this post are crowd seekers.

All we are trying to do in TA is to find the crowd and anticipate the direction.

Regards,
Jerry
