I've thought about this subject for a long time.
My take on this is that both the evolutionary theory and the current thinking on creation are off base. A pox on both their houses.
I am a an unabashed creationist, but when I see the contortions that creation apologists twist themselves up into I want to gag.
My view on this is pretty much my own and one that I have come to over time and after reading many references. I have always loved science and I have approached this subject with what some would say is a closed mind, but what I consider to be an open mind.
My assumptions are based on the existence of an omnipotent, omniscient, God, who stands outside of space and time and is capable of infinite works accomplished by unknowable and unprovable means.
Assume for a moment that you are this God and you have six twenty four hour periods in which to create a universe and an earth with a working ecosystem. How would you do it? Remember, you are not limited. Nothing exists; not even time.
I propose that God created everything so that it would work. Light form stars and galaxies that are millions of light years away was created in transit so that the light was striking the earth when the stars themselves were created. White dwarfs, blue giants, suns like our own, and black holes were all created at the same time but are different ages.
The universe itself was created a certain "age" that if followed back in "time" (which was also created), would extend back to a beginning event, a Big Bang if you will.
The earth was created pretty much as it is today with oil and gas deposits (that are the result of carbon based organism decay), coral reefs thousands of feet thick, and living, working ecosystems.
This includes fungi, which would have to have dead material to subsist on, mature and immature stands of forests with existing fauna, and coprophagous insects that feed on piles of dung that were created at the same time. Herds of animals were created that had a memory of yesterday. They already knew where to go to hunt for food and had migration patterns in their heads.
In other words, everything was created at a point in time, with a history, and if scientists were there on the eighth day they would have determined that the earth was billions of years old and that life began from simpler forms.
This is only my opinion...I could be wrong. I wasn't there and neither were any of you. |
