BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--September 13, 1999--Dynatech
Corporation (OTC-BB:DYNA) announced that today that its wholly owned
subsidiary da Vinci Systems, Inc. acquired privately held Sierra
Design Labs of Incline Village, Nevada for an undisclosed sum.
da Vinci Systems, Inc., based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, is a
leading provider of color enhancement technology to the worldwide
video post production market for both standard definition (SDTV) and
high definition (HDTV) image resolutions. Sierra manufactures
uncompressed, real-time video-disk recorders used in digital SDTV and
HDTV post-production applications.
"The acquisition of Sierra unites two leading suppliers in our
industry," said Ned C. Lautenbach, Chairman, President and CEO of
Dynatech Corporation. "The video post-production market is being
driven by the transition to high resolution imaging and the
approaching high definition TV requirements placed on the television
broadcasters by the FCC. We believe the combined entity will be well
positioned to fill the need in this market for higher resolution color
enhancement and video storage solutions."
