I think Steve is sensitive to this thread becoming a slugfest against MB Trading, as you essentially did on their thread several months ago IMHO. I second this concern. Any new discussion you or anyone has regarding Daytrading Fundamentals is welcome on this thread. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, obviously including yourself and Steve. However, I don't want anyone continuously harping the same old stories on this thread, particularly when they are bashing another person or brokerage firm. This serves no purpose and merely makes this thread a less valuable resource for everyone.
Regarding your questions. 1) "Why would anyone pay additional ECN fees with a particular broker when they could avoid the fees entirely elsewhere" and 2) "Why wouldn't someone want to open an account directly with Terra Nova versus opening an account with one of their various associated Real Tick III firms.
=> I think these are approximately the questions that you asked. Forgive me if they are not exact quotes.
Anyway, in my opinion, your questions assume that a trader makes his decision of brokerage firms solely based on things such as costs. The intangibles such as customer service are an extremely important factor to consider when opening an account. Obviously, the customer service folks at Terra Nova are may be better or worse than at other firms. This can be critical to a trader and will govern the decisions of many of them. Often, you get what you pay for...
