Good question. Lower than normal volume, especially in the face of fading price, usually means the demand for a stock is weakening. That's not good when you're sitting at the high end of a parabolic move. It calls for protecting your profits. I use stop loss orders and adjust them daily if needed.
Conversely, significantly higher volume, even on slightly increasing price, signals an improvement in demand and usually an improvement in price.
