I would not be surprised that anyone can come up with an easier for newbies version of Linux than Redhat. I still think the links in the html of the how-to docs are all hosed in Redhat. the mtools were broken in 5.2 and are still broken in 6. I use redhat as I know how all the files everywhere work for admin. To fix the mtools I deleted the installed binary from redhat and loaded one from a PC I have running slackware. For how-to's I goto www.howto.com or www.smartbreak or whereever on the net. When redhat screws up installing hardware I just fix the reboot to manually start and then edit config files as needed. I've sent emails to Redhat for years documenting what I consider pain in the ass problems but no doubt they have bigger fish to fry. Also before going public they had no money to hire anything other than college newbies with limited exposure to professional software development and testing practices. A Linux distribution is a conplex set of dependent interrelated packages. It's difficult to dicker with one and have limited scope of effect. But for a 1.89 cdrom how can ya all complain. Ah but wait, me thinks aplx and Caldera have a deal. hmmm... I own how much aplx. OK Redhat sucks. Everyone buy caldera. Now do as I say and not as I do. Oh yeah I may still be an authorized Caldera reseller. I have several very pretty caldera CD's on the shelf and I still use the netscape 3.0 rpm for mail that I got with Caldera version ????

May or may not have any effect on relative percentages of market.
