No doubt the economic and social forces become centralized, but I'm a little more optimistic than you about any planning that goes into it. Nobody planned the internet, for example. While certain industries and corporations are consolidating, others will be created and we'll go through a rapid process of wildcatting and buccaneer entrepeneurism until that consolidates. With tech the way its evolving, Moore's Law will be in play for a while. The fat cats will continue to meddle and manipulate, but with new tech constantly being created, skinny cats can play, too.
