Chas,

Re:"he is not using a coppermine processor with 133Mhz front side bus, from what I can tell. not sure if its the latest B1 rev 820 board either."

True but the coppermines are 2 months away.

BUT he is using a PIII 533 with 800Mhz DRDRAM and a 133Mhz FSB.

This is what will be released to the public together with the 600Mhz PIII with 133Mhz FSB.

IMHO, if these benchmarks are real this will be a total disaster for Rambus.

If the 820 chipset really only works well with Coppermine then they would be better off delaying the Rambus intro for 30-45 days.

An intro where rambus gets a poor name for performance would be a disaster IMHO.

Already this APEX guy was talking about how Rambus was forcing hime to learn to wait in Quake etc.

Did anybody talk to rambus IR about the dell benchmarks?

If not maybe i will call/e-mail they can at least dispute them if they are grossly inaccurate.

regards,

Kash
