I don't think they'll buy Palm, for a couple of reasons:

1) If they were working a deal with 3COM, why would 3COM be going public now about a 2 phase spinoff if Q was going to be saying something different in 2 days?

2) Q won't want to get tied too closely to the Palm. It's a great unit, but Q won't want to be frozen out of other platforms in the event Palm isn't the long term winner.

3) With a great JV going well, why change it?

4) Palm's designers are starting up another company to compete with Palm.
