My thanks to all who responded to the problem with failed HP Scanner install....Problem appears to be resolved!!!

Ms. Witch, your post put me on track to finding the cure....the problem, it seems, was in the "system.ini" file which was directing the system to look for data I had deleted....the solution(number 3 or 4, I think) was for me to take an old backup that either the HP install or a previous install of something else had made and labeled "system.001" and rename it to "system.ini"....I have yet to operate all the programs so it may be that I will need to re-install something if this wasn't the back-up created by the HP install, but at least that annoying message is gone!!!

As far as HP products, I like them....but this was no joy....sure glad I have you folks to help from time to time....Thanks again!

Tim
