Petz, Re:Someplace today, I read that an AMD spokesman said that Athlon sales revenue was "proceeding according to plan." Can anyone recall where I read that?
Is this what you are looking for?
"AMD officials would not comment on sales data, but they
say Athlon is meeting projections for revenue production
so far, a month after the chip's Aug. 9 launch."

An excerpt from the end of the article - "If the
Dresden experiment continues to be successful and
business is good, AMD is prepared to expand here.
"The site is actually large enough for two,
maybe three fabs," Heerssen said. "But we have not
made any plans at this point -- hard plans -- to
expand beyond the existing facility. "

An email received by JC - from JC's news log
"I was just looking at the prices at www.pricewatch.com,
and suddenly realized that the PIII retail prices are
within a couple of dollars of the OEM version, but the
Athlon retail prices are $15 to $45 above OEM. I have
heard that the retail version commands a price hike
versus the OEM version, but it looks as though the
difference has collapsed for Intel. I have no idea
if this means anything, but it certainly is curious."

ooo Check this e-mail out:
"Just got my October Computer Shopper in the
mail today and it seems that the 700 MHz Athlons are
just around the corner. CyberMax is advertising a
700 MHz system with 21" monitor for $2899. They also
make sure that the 700 MHz sticks out so its one of
the first things you see." Joey H.
ooo "An anonymous source has told me that Tyan will have
a dual Athlon board as soon as CPU's are available.
I'm not quite sure what to think about this one yet,
so don't get too excited."
