Do you really think I'll Take My Stand was as influential as Coming of Age in Samoa? I'll Take My Stand was published in 1930 in a modest edition that was allowed to go out of print. Except for a small reprint brought out primarily for library use, the book was not available to the general public until 1962, when Harper reissued it as part of their Torchbook series. During that time millions of copies of Coming of Age in Samoa were cranked out, not to mention the several commentaries. Nietzsche was conservative? The author of The Anti-Christ? Come on back to us Neo. Interesting yes, conservative no. I realize The Wealth of Nations is a bible of sorts to the modern conservative, but my take is that his division of labor theories, while promoting efficiency, is dehumanizing. I've worked on assembly lines, trust me, its not that romantic. Don't know much about Strauss. I know when he died there were several testimonials extolling his influence. Murray Rothbard always spoke highly of "Straussians." I should know more...
