[OT: Rick Miller Named Executive Vice President of Business Development for OnSite Access]
Building-Centric Communications Company Hires Former Senior Vice President of GE Equity as Executive Vice President, Business Development
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--September 14, 1999-- OnSite Access, the nation's premier Building-Centric Communications Provider of commercial high-speed Internet and advanced broadband communications services announced Rick Miller as the new Executive Vice President, Business Development.
Miller joins OnSite from GE Equity, a subsidiary of GE Capital in Stamford, CT, where he was Senior Vice President for the past three and a half years, working with healthcare, internet, software and media companies. Miller's financial and business expertise helped identify, invest and manage the group's private equity portfolio of more than $1 billion. In addition, Miller was a general partner at RFE Investment Partners, a Connecticut based venture capital firm, where his investments created above market returns for investors. Prior to his six years with RFE, Miller, a CPA, was a manager with Ernst & Young LLP in both their Washington, D.C. and Stamford, CT offices.
"We are pleased to welcome Rick's rich and varied experiences to OnSite's management team," said Howard E. Taylor, Chairman and CEO of OnSite Access. "His expertise will be especially important as OnSite continues to lead the next revolution in the communications industry by satisfying the growing need of customers for advanced connectivity solutions within commercial office buildings."
"With the convergence of telecommunications, enabling technologies, and content in the market, OnSite provides a unique platform for the delivery of these products to small and medium sized businesses in a manner that can improve their productivity and profitability. It is truly a new paradigm. It is my pleasure to join a team of experienced operators and successful communications investors," said Miller.
Miller's appointment follows OnSite's recent additions of Howard Taylor as the Company's CEO (from WinStar Communications) and Ken Hall as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (from Qwest Communications International), as well as the April 19th announcement of a $60 million private equity investment to finance the company's nationwide expansion. Six separate firms, Spectrum Equity Investors, Crosspoint Venture Partners, JP Morgan Capital, AT&T Ventures, RSI (OTC:RSII) and Veritech Ventures have provided the financing, which is the third largest in Silicon Alley history.
The firm secured this round of financing by successfully demonstrating the economics and advantages of servicing the "first foot" of the communications infrastructure. OnSite's Building-Centric network and business models, which bridge the interests of the commercial property owners, tenant population and communications services industries, have proven successful at delivering highly desired products and services directly to the tenants, while at the same time serving as a valuable building amenity to the property owner.
