Mezz,
re aquatic ape

We also have a diving response similar to aquatic animals, lowered heart rate, etc.. Human infants seem to swim by instinct. Some have argued that both breasts and long hair are adaptations for water. A woman's breasts while she is floating on her back are available to the swimming infant who grasps her long hair to stay close while mom is looking for lobster for dinner. Our noses, unlike other simians, stick out to cover our nostrils as we dive, a few of us can close our nostrils. Some of us have webs between our fingers and toes. The relationship among spine, hips and legs is more similar to seals and whales than to other simians. It is an elegant theory.
