Got this emailed to me late yesterday regarding my Datek account:

We are pleased to announce that on September 15, Datek Online will again extend the trading day for our customers. We will be the first online brokerage firm to offer extended-hours trading both before and after traditional market hours.

Our extended-hours trading sessions will soon enable you to place limit orders for Nasdaq stocks exclusively through the Island ECN from 8:00 AM Eastern Time until the market opens at 9:30 AM Eastern Time, and then after the market closes from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

That's what's great and so exciting about so many of these ecommerce outfits. If there's a good idea, someone's gonna do it NOW, not next month or after review at the next quarterly board meeting. Every day is a lesson in the power of capitalism. BTW, this move by Datek does not threaten E*Trade, on the contrary, I think it's a great move for the OLB industry as a whole - so many of these traditional analysts shriek at the remote possibility of competition, without recognizing its power to improve overall industry services. Regardless, to see E*Trade moving at hyper-speed on just soo many fronts lately is really very exciting. The patient will be significantly rewarded imo.
