TORQUE BREAKTHROUGH BY BOREALIS CHORUS™ MOTOR

Substantial improvements in torque have been announced by Borealis Motor Manufacturing Limited following beta tests of the company's new Chorus™ motor technology. In tests, the proprietary Borealis Chorus™ motor has shown continuous torque at least 30% greater than comparable inverter-based AC motors, and a peak torque at least three times as high as such motors.
The Chorus™ technology uses harmonic waveforms generated by AC inverter-based motors to produce significant improvements in performance. Chorus™ uses novel windings and electronic controllers to harness the harmonics, which in conventional motors can degrade performance and slow the motor.
"Over 60% of the electricity consumed by industry in the United States is used for electric motors, and the annual global motor and drive market is in excess of $100 billion", says Borealis President Isaiah Cox. "A Chorus™ motor will produce the same continuous torque as a conventional motor that is 30% larger, and the same peak torque as a conventional motor two to four times larger. The Chorus™ will be smaller, lighter, and much less expensive to build."
