Frm Mid-day movers~ Wireless communications company Qualcomm Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM - news) gained $10.50 to $163.88 after expressing optimism that it will meet or exceed analysts' fourth fiscal quarter estimates of $0.87 per share. The company based its outlook on strong demand for its chipsets and phones as well as the current performance of its business units. Qualcomm also said it plans to increase its focus on manufacturing in order to take advantage of economies of scale and other operating efficiencies. The company's goal is to enter an agreement with a manufacturing company by the end of the year.
