I think its a whole lot more complicated than politicians let on though. You'd have to make sure that the vouchers really did completely cover a year of educational expenditures - otherwise, its discriminatory towards the poor. So that would mean the big states would need to do a little more than just dole out the 4K voucher/student statewide... for sure that would work in Bakersfield but not Oakland... then you get into this districting argument mess (how much for a voucher in LA vs. SF, etc.)

The only local voucher proposal we had out here recently was proposed by the republican running for school superintendent. It was $700. per student per year. LOL! Why not just write the wealthy parents a check for $700 no strings attached?
