HAUPPAGE, NEW YORK, U.S.A., 1997 APR 3 (NB) -- By Ian Stokell. With the increase in available and low-cost bandwidth, the use of videoconferencing is on the rise. But, like most areas of the computer business, companies that offer finished videoconferencing products in the marketplace often do not make all the components themselves. One example of that is US Robotics [NASDAQ:USRX], which says that it has signed an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) deal with Hauppage Digital Inc. [NASDAQ:HAUP] for its ImpactVCB videoconferencing board.
According to the companies, the ImpactVCB will be used in the Bigpicture video products. The move is aimed at the consumer market and personal computers, where increased usage is anticipated.
Through its Hauppage Computer Works Inc. subsidiary, Hauppage Digital Inc., the company says it is "primarily engaged in the designing, manufacturing, and marketing of digital video products for the PC market." |
