But, is any of what I said untrue?

The vast majority of high tech professionals that I know have a solid understanding of scientific methods. The is true regardless of their customs or origins. I'd guess about 1/3 of those entering the profession have a dogmatic outlook but they drift off into the bureacracy after a year or two.
