Brian - Re: "The guy buying the $800 Athlon machine may balk at paying $900." Unfortunaltely for AMD, the Athlon machines DON'T appear to be sb $1000 PCs - what with the $250 - $850 price tag per CPU. AMD may have problems more severe than just memory costs - they have to appeal to a consuming public that has come to EXPECT dirt cheap PCs with the AMD CPU inside. And with the AThlon, that ISN'T THE CASE. I'm sure many consumers are going to pick Intel PC over comparably priced Athlon machines - if for no other reason that to PROTECT their investment by buying a WELL-KNOWN, PREMIUM brand instead of a Premium-Wannabee.
