RDSL
25 August 1999

Compaq Computer (US) and NTT-ME (Japan), subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph & Telephone (NTT) (Japan), have signed an alliance to offer a computer network and service package which will allow users to dial into internal network systems from mobile phones.

Each package will contain one server and around 30 computer terminals. However, the packages will only be compatible with the i-mode Internet-capable phones from NTT Mobile Communications Network, subsidiary of NTT. NTT-ME and Compaq are hoping to have signed deals for 1k packages by December 1999.
