ed - RE: just a few days ago comments were made of how dell would capture the storage market and decimate the deeply entrenched players DELL has started to take the first steps to build the capability to compete in the storage business. Meanwhile, EMC, concerned that their lack of a systems business (and therefore no access to the server-side hooks) could blunt their SAN growth, decides to invest a billion dollars in software to counter that issue and develop a total SAN infrastructure. That's the way a major player defends turf... and why it will be hard for DELL to threaten the big players in that space.
