*MICROSOFT TO ANNOUNCE NEW HEALTH-CARE TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVE*

Bill Gates, chairman and CEO of Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT), will announce a new health-care technology initiative on Wednesday, Sept. 15, during his keynote address at the Microsoft(R) Healthcare Users Group Windows(R) on Healthcare V conference in San Diego. This announcement will address the industry's needs to reduce costs, streamline business processes and improve patient care with comprehensive, next-generation technologies for business operations, interoperability and e-commerce.

As part of Gates' keynote, Microsoft will demonstrate how developers can use Microsoft technologies to build and rapidly deploy scalable, reliable health-care solutions, and Gates will outline steps health-care organizations can take to get the most out of their existing technology investments.
