Dave, you don't hear CEO of those companies telling shareholders that their unavailable product (like ZixMail) will be used by EVERYBODY, just like the telephone. That's right, I'm not kidding, that's what Cook said this morning.
Cook reiterated this morning that he will not spend money to market ZixMail. Instead he trusts that words of mouth and the press will bring him 10 to 50 million users in a couple of years (Note he's backing down a little on the time frame, a couple of years instead of in the first 12 months as was said in the July).
Cook likened ZixMail to Real Audio, problem is RNWK practically has the market to itself, and RNWK spent tens of millions $ advertising and marketing its product which is free to the consumers. ZixMail, on the the hand, is a late entry to a crowded market, no marketing, not even needed by majority of email users, and yet costs $12/yr to use. For what?
I suppose longs were disappointed big time today. Stock didn't react to the two PRs last night and the annual meeting today.
