I know you are all thinking about Internet futures and possibilities, but to put a bit of a nearer term set of opportunities for NOVL...

Selling the Digital-Me product to Business Industry Communities (like the auto industry, retail, manufacturing, etc.). Creating a supply chain community for business-to-business transactions - ie. producer - distributor - manufacturer - wholesaler - retailer.

A opportunity for the Service Provider would be to securely host the Digital-Me Community for these vertical industry communities. Hmmm - another "On The Net" future opportunity perhaps. We'll see how creative and aggressive this new Business Unit will be.

This area also start dipping into NOVL's up-coming I-Chain technology.

>>>>Yes ... and now you have hit upon a very important issue when designing systems like this. I believe that this
is where some "vault" concepts begin to break down. If I want my information to be stored securely, then I need
to encrypt the information. If I have encrypted the information, then other people can't see it. At that point I can't
share it ... oops ... I thought that's what we wanted to do! ;-)

So a couple of things that I think are necessary ... one, for the member to have the ability to pick and choose
what information is to be encrypted from everyone. And two, that I share information with other people through
trusted communities for exchange.

And this leads back to multiple communities ... <<<<

Sorry but since this is the NOVL thread I have to put your comments into the perspective of NOVL's Digital-Me technology. Could the entire NDS container be encrypted (which I would think would possibly be the NDS definition of a specific community)? Also, the dilemma continues regarding your idea that we digital-me participants would have the flexibility to decide which attributes of oursleves we could encrypt. The data I wish to encrypt ffor security from one specific member or community - I may want to share with another.

So I would have to think that all the data in my vault/safes would have to be encrypted and then some means of providing a key to selected outsiders for each specific attribute in my vault/safe would have to be developed. This would also further ensure that some "Trusted Host" does not have a backdoor into my vault/safes (although even that might not be fully ensured).

Very interesting comments Scott. It is unfortunate that you cannot discuss your opinions of Digital-Me, but I understand why you cannot.

PS - did all of you watch the live "Central Park" concert sponsored by American Express's Blue. If only NOVL could advertise like that for its eventual release of the Digital-Me service.
