I don't see any reason why women shouldn't be able to have children in their 40s, and yet biology makes this difficult... emotionally otoh its another matter.

I think biology has its reasons for making it difficult. Raising children requires a level of physical endurance and energy that definitely declines with age. I am primary parent to 2; I am 40 and very fit, but wish I had the energy I had when I was 30. I hate to think of trying it at 50.
