I assume you are restricting this comment to game platforms. IBM had a string of generations where they were No 1 and almost the only.

Perhaps you are a bit strong on the generation to generation problem. It is difficult to be brilliant twice in a row. Is there any particular reason why the odds are less than a company's share of engineers working on the problem?
