Alex, I'll have to check out the 3dfx board. I decided long ago that 3d chip oems were trouble, and haven't been watching the boards. I've got enough problems with my AMD investment.....<gg>. I'm sure you frequent some of the same sites as I do.....my favorite is voodooextreme at voodoextreme.com because Billy rips off everyone else so I don't have to go trolling for news. He is pretty on top of 3d news. I have a voodoo3 in my current 'puter...IMO, it is a great card. Very fast with great 2 and 3d. I have a super socket7 motherboard so I've stayed away from the nVidia products. I'm frankly a little skeptical considering some of the features that are supposedly in the current crop of boards for which I haven't noticed widespread developer support ....bump mapping may be great, texture compression.....same...but unless developers program for these features, they are useless. The same can be said for all the upcoming new features of the next generation. Certainly that one of the arguments for consoles. Whatever the expandability of PCs, you cannot ignore that cutting edge pc games are not accessible by a large number of pc owners. I was playing system shock 2 the other day (great game BTW), and my system was so damn slow. I just built a new computer in December! Maybe I'll buy a new K7 machine this Christmas. I agree with your atvi comments. I'm still waiting for it to come crashing back to earth. I guess it's hard for me to believe it has broken free of the current crappy trading cycle. -Scot
