Lots of good discussions in past few weeks, looks like the thread is finally awaken from the dark.
VC, I have to disagree with your opinion in console market. It's a good idea to incorporate a DVD player in a game machine because there is too many hardware redundancy between the two. Sony may not want to do that (how much profit can Sony made with a console?) but 3rd party PSX2 developers will eventually do it for Sony. We see this happened to PSX and VCD. With the emerge of STB, convergence of DVD, VCR, net browser, game console and even the "current definition" of family PC is unavoidable. It's just matter of time. The time it takes C-CUBE to bring out cheap mpeg2 codec, or the time it takes Sony/Toshiba to get DVD-RAM to the mainstream.
>> no hardware company has ever been able to win consecutive generations <<
Nintendo has done it with Gameboy and NES/SNES. Intel has done it. Cisco has done it, HP has done it.....
PS: I didn't have a choice, I sold 40% of my THQI last Wednesday for my financial needs. I sold when %k cross over %D and ADX is rising, a very dumb move. If there is no negative surprise on WWF release date, THQI should have no problem with $37 to $39 in 3 months, support level at ~$31 and ~$30 next.
