I'm sorry Mika but that statement just makes no sense. The air interface is CDMA and not TDMA based. Where did you come up with that?

I believe that Mika is talking about current GSM (2G) when he says that the air interface is TDMA based. Though they will have to change out their TDMA air interface, W-CDMA was customized to work with the GSM network infrastructure. However work is being done to do the same thing with CMDA2000. I'm not sure of the details (Eric L. probably could give details) but I assume that they are attempting to add SIM cards and other things that W-CDMA incorporates.
