I know a good movie for gratuitously horrifying. Necromantic. I keep trying to get someone else to watch the movie. I agree about Saving Private Ryan. Saw it for the first time last Sunday, and when it is obvious that the director is trying to shock you it doesn't work if he is trying to make an important film. SPR was one of the most unoriginal hack jobs of a movie I have seen in a long time, nothing but a rehash of The Big Red One, Platoon, etc. I guess you'll have to see it eventually, though.
