An observation -
1. Evolutionary theory per se is badly taught at the high school level. One can hardly teach the cons if the pros aren't understood.
2. Testing in the classroom? You are joking, right? Would you ask a 12 year old about TA of QCOM charts?

Do you accept my point is that the theory IS being tested - something you said wasn't being done.

Additional OT observations
2. The teaching of critical thinking in the US, quite frankly stinks.
3. The standard of primary and secondary school teaching in the US also stinks.

We are not the grandchildren of apes - we are apes. How do you explain the 99.9% similarity we have with Bonobo Chimps?
