Please don't be offended, dear heart, but nothing in the world prepares you for the reality. There are some times that intellectual comprehension simply does not suffice. And I am not talking about nine months of pregnancy, nor even childbirth. Being stuck, like it or not, with a completely helpless baby, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, is something for which nothing can prepare you.
Wonderful husbands change diapers and give bottles and take baby for a walk to burp baby, and play with baby and so on, but it's really mother's work. I spent years, literally, sitting on my bed or on the sofa in my living room, holding babies, nursing babies, changing babies, smelling like sour milk all the time, and worse. Someone has to do it. They can't do it for themselves.
I am not saying only women experience this, but no one in their right mind is going to trust a helpless baby to a teenage boy 24/7, are they?
There is a limit to how much feminism can accomplish, and making men into mothers is impossible. |
