Cha2, I think we can come up with a name or term, but the tricky part will be the subtleties. Different companies within this space will add differing degrees of operational/strategic value along with the venture funding that they each provide.

The key therefor will be coming up with a term that differentiates between the various players. I think we need some dialogue around this before coining terminology.

Any thoughts? btw, If someone could highlight some portfolio companies of Softbank that received not only funding from them but also additional value added services as a direct result of their relationship, it would be extremely helpful. Though I agree that they have some terrific investments on their Balance Sheet, I need to get my hands around this issue before I group them in with the likes of SFE, CMGI or ICGE. I understand your point that MSFT and Softbank together could be an awesome combination, but on some level it also highlights to me the fact that Softbank needs MSFT at the table to lend the additional layer of value that an ICGE can provide on their own.
