RE: <We have know since June that testing RDRAM will be the rate limiting factor in it's ramp up to volume production. I am trying to get a feel of how many testors are required and associated costs involved. I am getting the feel that the majority of you guys just want to talk volts, amps and NAP mode. I am more interested on my return on investment. john>

Good for you, John, because the test issue is a big reason for the dram makers reluctance to move quickly to Rambus. I expect that during the near term people will use two-pass testing so that they first test the memory bits on a conventional memory tester and if the chip passes then send the chip on to a Rambus-ready tester that can test the pins. The good news for this approach is that the test on the Rambus-ready tester should be short since they don't have to retest all the bits. The bad news is that they have to test twice so the 2nd test and all the cost of the Rambus-ready tester are just pure extra cost for Rdram.
