S100, I haven't figured out the stock options, but certainly, employees from the early 1990s and especially those from the 1980s will be feeling well rewarded. Frustrating for the infrastructure people who were transferred to Ericy and whose departure meant the price zoomed up. Like most things in the world, stock options as a way of paying people and giving them incentive is very imperfect.

The item you posted implied a careless and greedy approach. That's not the case. Until a few months ago, there was no big 'loss' to anyone. It was only after the Ericy deal and the huge investor recognition that Qualcomm actually had some really good prospects that the options became vastly profitable for those still in. Even the rabid Q! enthusiasts right here in SI were not expecting such a rapid run up. Most seemed happy to take a buyout offer of $40 and the stock was trading at $20 this time last year.

Not much room for whining really. Imperfect, but that's the breaks. Lucky, lucky those who transferred from infrastructure to ASICs last year! I suppose there were some. That would be like winning a lottery! Maybe better actually.
