Red Herring Articles On Intel Investments & Gilder

Red Herring (RH) has some interesting items -

I) The current online edition of RH has an article on Intel and its investment strategy in other companies. redherring.com . A related article titled "Intel is leading a consortium to create a new $300 Million fund" redherring.com. Within this article it has the paragraph

"....Intel has long been setting the stage for IA-64, a faster technology that promises to leapfrog the aging architecture of its existing Pentium chips. To make IA-64 a success, it has partnered with a range of computing players, including companies like Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HWP) and Compaq Computer (NYSE: CPQ) that also offer their own chip architectures. ...."

I can't help but wonder why HWP & CPQ are mentioned as these two have definite links to WAVX,especially in light of the recent NSM announcement regarding licensing Wave technology.

II)In the October '99 print version of RH (not available on-line yet) there is an article starting on page 108 titled "The Inner Circle-nine of high tech's top POWER BROKERS. And they're not VC's". One of them is Wave's own GEORGE GILDER {PG.112}. In RH's text Guilder describes the type of start-up companies he is interested in and why they survive. As one reads his words you can't help but think of Wave and their management.

You might want to read the hard copy version if available now or wait a while until the Online RH site updates to include the 10/99 issue's articles.
