BeOS-Series Offers Superior Multimedia Performance at Low Cost

MENLO PARK, Calif., Sep 16, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Be Incorporated,
(Nasdaq:BEOS), developer of BeOS(R), the operating system designed for
digital media applications and Internet appliances, today announced
that its partner iDOT.com, the first PC company built for the Web,

featuring the revolutionary BeOS.

The new 333K6-2 BeOS-Series system, priced at $449, enables users to
experience a new level of multimedia performance on a low-cost desktop
PC.

BeOS, a relatively new desktop computer operating system that was
designed to provide users with superior levels of performance on
inexpensive hardware, utilizes minimal amounts of hard drive space, yet
also provides superior multimedia functionality.

"We're tremendously excited to have iDOT.com as one of the first PC
manufacturers in North America to pre-install BeOS on personal
computers," said Bob Smith, vice president of sales for the Americas
and Asia of Be, Inc. "iDOT.com's products give customers the chance to
experience a BeOS computer at an incredibly low price."

"We are incredibly excited to be able to offer our customers this
low-priced PC that can perform such high level multimedia tasks," said
Tom Beardmore, PC product manager at iDOT.com. "The 333K6-2 BeOS-Series
system is a great entry-level computer for consumers wanting beefy
multimedia capabilities, but who don't want to pay a fortune. Graphic
artists and designers especially will appreciate the speed and
stability of the BeOS, in addition to the exceptionally low price. The
333K6-2 BeOS is an attractive addition to any home or office."

The 333K6-2 BeOS system, based on iDOT.com's highly popular 333K6-2
Value Series system, includes an AMD 333 K6-2 processor, 32MB of SDRAM
100MHz, a 4.3GB hard drive, a 40X (max) CD-ROM, a 1.44MB floppy drive,
an Internal ISA 56K v.90 fax modem and a standard keyboard and mouse.
The latest version of BeOS comes pre-installed on the PC, along with
BeatWare Mail-It, a full-featured email client, and Gobe Productive, an
integrated package of office applications.

The system comes with a standard one-year parts, 90-day labor limited
warranty, plus 20 days of toll-free set-up assistance. Extended service
plans are available and all systems come with a 30-day money-back
guarantee.

BeOS comes complete with a Web browser, a media player, utilities,
