Ellen, I just now read this article and was looking to post it to you. It mentions push technology as a new feature to be integrated into the next standard for WAP 1.2.

Clearly, things are moving along. The standard becomes more and more functional. Don't know the details, but their security issues will be vital to making the service a really great success.

Also on the agenda this week is the end-to-end security of WAP services especially with the expected popularity of banking and e-commerce type services using the mobile phone.

This might be solved through SIM's or software, but somehow it must be solved for the dream to be realized. At least there are solutions. I also follow a company that does purely IVR based phone transactions and they have hit a wall with this security issue and it has hurt.

Regards,

Mark
