To all:

The CEO of Inktomi was just on CNBC talking up his Traffic Server product (caching software) and his purchase of WebSpective. I have seen in the trade press somewhere that Inktomi is trying to be the Cisco of the Internet software infrastructure world. Isn't that something Novell is trying to do also and is not Novell prominent also in the Caching world? How come I never see Novell mentioned as a competitor of Inktomi even when it comes to caching?

The Inktomi CEO said that caching will be a $12 billion business by 2004 (could have been $14 B by 2003 but nos are close). It is now a few 100 million in size.

What will it take for the mkt to talk up Novell like Inktomi??

Regards,

Don
