Esq/PCSTEL SP's Minute Minimums by: EquityVal 12727 of 12739 My understanding of the agreements with SP's is that these are not "take or pay" agreements. Rather there are minimums that the SP's need to pay in order to maintain exclusivity in their regions. A big difference. Hence their accounting flexibility is limited I suspect. Perhaps Rocket Scientist knows the details of the contracts. I also don't expect that G* is going to play hardball on the minimums in the near term. The slow rollout of the gateways (funny how no one has commented on the fact that 8 were installed as of March and none have been installed since then) suggests that the leverage in the relationship rests with the SP's that have actually installed their gateways. (Also, did anyone notice the comment in the ING Barings report yesterday that the Brazil gateway has slipped out of Q4 into Q1?) One thing to watch for on the revenue recognition front is how they report revenue from the sale of gateways. I don't know the details, but would guess that the revenue is recognizable after installation and acceptance by the SP. They may lump this into a "revenue from SP" line item along with per minute revenue and mask what is really going on with end user demand.
