Titan has emerged as the sixth largest 'manufacturer brand' in the world after Casio, Citizen, Seiko, Swatch and Timex of America, in the watch business.

Manufacturer-brands are those wherein you own the brand as well as make the product. Such a brand is different from a brand such as "Guess' where the brand owners own only the right to the name. Titan over the last 12 years has built a strong manufacturing capacity with a highly integrated plant, which virtually makes all the parts that go into a watch.

Titan in 1998-99 sold 4.76 million watches in the domestic market. Cumulatively it has sold more than 30 million watches so far. The return on capital employed for the domestic watch business is over 20 per cent.
