Man. What a country.
I have to agree with RB on SOME of his points, and I agree with you on SOME of yours.
The 'war on drugs'. I agree with you on this one, Merritt. That it's a threat to the bill of rights. Seizure laws for example. Also, is alcohol included in this 'war'? Half the people killed in car wrecks are due to alcohol. cops tell me 90% of 'domestic' cases are alcohol related. or incited. But those manufacturers have a cash funnel into the lawmakers pockets.... Hell, in the military, the first building constructed on a new base is the NCO club. Better make that the Officer's club, THEN the NCO club.
But Robert's right about our democracy and that this country, as bad as it is, is the best. Of what I've seen anyway. I disagree with him, though on our supposed ablilty to 'throw the bums out' when we need to. It don't work. I live in a state that has 2 democrats for every republican. And my district has 4 democrats for every republican, yet we've got a repub. governor and all senators and congressmen are repubs. And like it or not, they ALL favor big business over the worker. (period.)
speaking of big business, favoritism, and bums, I've got to go work for a while.
