First Miracle's Emmett/Furla Films Nabs Dennis Hopper to Star in Teen Thriller "Held for Ransom"; Film to Be Financed by First Miracle Group and Cutting Edge
LOS ANGELES--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Sept. 16, 1999--Emmett/Furla Films has signed Dennis Hopper to star as the male lead in the independent teen thriller "Held for Ransom," it was announced Thursday by Tony Cataldo, chief executive officer of First Miracle Group Inc. (OTC BB:MVEE).

Based on a best-selling novel by Lois Duncan ("I Know What You Did Last Summer") and adapted by Lee Stanley, the film is scheduled to go before cameras Oct. 25 in Florida, with Stanley directing.

"Held for Reason" tells the story of a group of high school students who are kidnapped and must thwart their kidnappers, only to discover that one of their parents is involved in the scheme.

Hopper will play JD, the mastermind of the kidnapping, who holds the teens hostage in the Florida Everglades while waiting for money from their wealthy parents.

The picture will be produced by partners Randall Emmett and George Furla. Cataldo, David Glasser and Adam Stone will executive produce.

"We are extremely excited about Dennis coming on board," said Emmett of Emmet/Furla Films. "We've long been fans of Dennis' work, and couldn't be happier that he chose our project, with the teen market exploding every week."

Hopper's credits include "Hoosiers," "Speed," "River's Edge," "Blue Velvet" and the upcoming "Jesus' Son." Emmett/Furla, whose upcoming credits include "After Sex," starring Brooke Shields, and "Escape to Grizzly Mountain," have arranged financing through First Miracle Group and Cutting Edge.

Emmett/Furla and Rick Rosenthal of Grakal, Root, and Rosenthal negotiated on behalf of the producers.
